Throughout history the eyes have often been referred to as the “windows” to the soul.” The science and art of using the markings in the iris and the shapes of the pupils is known as Iridology. Each shape, color, pattern and fibre in the iris has meaning to a skilled Iridologist and can assist them in finding a persons patterns, physical and emotional tendencies, and their inherent weaknesses. Most modern Iridologists also use Sclerology in their evaluations. Sclerology is based on the sclera lines (lines in the white part of the eye) which seem to show recent changes in health patterns and conditions quite accurately.
In the past few years many Iridologists have incorporated the Spiritual Iridology or “Rayid” Model into their work. Rayid means “a single strand of light coming from a center point experiencing the ID, the deepest level of the mind.” Using the patterns of the eyes one can determine the essential core of your personality and the balance one has made in their life between the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual parts.
The insights learned from studying your iris signs will help you to improve your health and to make more appropriate choices in your career and in your relationships. This method can also be extremely useful in understanding your children, your partner, business associates, and anyone else in your life.
BASIC INFORMATION
Let’s look at this information in two parts: Physical levels and Emotional levels. Please keep in mind, however, that the two go hand in hand. It’s just easier to understand by separating the areas.
PHYSICAL CATEGORIES
Blue-eyed type (Lymphatic): These are eyes that are basic blue, with blue-white, or blue-grey backgrounds. These people have to pay particular attention to the following areas: upper respiratory and mucous membranes, bronchioles, villi of the lungs, digestive tract, uro-genital-tract, lymphatic tissues (tonsils, appendix, spleen and lymph nodes) and membranes of the joints. This type also is at increased risk for kidney problems and adrenal gland imbalances and may find themselves dealing with a lot of mucous or catarrh.
Mixed-eye type (Billiary): The mixed eye has discolorations (usually light brown) on top of a blue background. The fiber structure is visible through the color. This type has to watch out for liver related problems. Analysis of these color pigmentations in autopsies has shown that they are composed of materials from the bloodstream which have broken down due to liver imbalance. This type has difficulties with breaking down certain foods, which then stress the liver and get into the blood stream. This fires an immune response which can cause these people to have all kinds of “allergies”. Hence, the liver and digestive system is usually at the root of their problems.
Brown-eyed type (Hematogenic): This is the pure brown eye with tightly woven fibers that completely covers the iris. These people seem to be predisposed to imbalances in blood composition, and hence to blood disorders. Many believe this is partly because they tend to have a difficult time storing an adequate supply of minerals. They seem to have a particular problem in calcium metabolism. These people need to pay attention to the circulatory system (heart, blood, blood vessels), the organs that make the blood (liver, spleen, and bone marrow), the digestive system and the endocrine glands.
Colors also play an important role in understanding a persons health. In addition to the three types, we must review colors and the impact they add.
* Yellow- suggests poor kidney function. (Yellow “chicken fat” found in the white part of the eyes usually indicates gallbladder problems.
* Orange- indicates difficulties in metabolizing carbohydrates (starches and sugars) and suggests weakness in the liver and pancreas. Ask about blood sugar problems.
* Brown- indicates poor liver function and “dirty” blood.
Rings in the eyes also play a major role. Let’s look at the most common rings and what they could mean.
Scurf rim or Ring of Purpose: This is a dark band around the outer edge of the iris and indicates that the skin is not functioning properly. These people generally do not sweat easily, thus losing one of the body’s main systems for detoxifying. It also indicates increased mucous production and kidney stress. It can cause a person to be “thick skinned” emotionally, withdrawing or creating a facade.
Stress Rings or Rings of Freedom: These rings look like the growth rings on a tree. They indicate neuro-muscular tension and stress. These people tend to be perfectionists and are very active and accomplishment oriented.
Lymphatic Rosary or Ring of Harmony: This ring looks like a tiny ring of clouds around the outer section of the iris. This indicates a person who tends to have lymphatic disturbances and swollen lymph nodes. These people can experience a lot of mucous, asthma, sinus and ear infections and kidney problems. They tend to internalize other people’s problems which comes from their deep seeded need to make everyone and everything “perfect” or OK, even to the point of taking on someone else’s problems. They dislike any conflict, tension or strife in their environment.
Lipid Ring or Ring of Determination: This ring is a heavy white ring that partially or completely covers the outer edge of the iris. This ring is mostly found in older people and indicates that hardening of the arteries, arteriosclerosis, and other problems of the cardiovascular system. It also indicates problems with the liver, thyroid, and an increased risk of Parkinson’s disease and blood sugar disorders (diabetes). This ring is associated with determination, rigidity, stubbornness and inflexibility. We often refer to people with this sign as being “hard-headed”.
Have you ever noticed that some people seem to be healthy even when they break every rule of health, while others work much harder at staying healthy and still have problems. The late George Burns appeared to be one of those in the first group. With a big stogie in his hand most of the time, he still lived to almost a hundred. One aspect that significantly impacts this ability is the iris indicators for physical integrity. This relates to how much abuse our body can take before it rebels and symptoms appear.
The evaluation of physical integrety is a two step process. Picture a rubber band springing back after being stretched. One consideration is how thick your rubber band is, which reflects a measurement of RESILIENCY. The other consideration is how often, how long, and how far you stretch the rubber band. This measurement relates to DRIVE or PRODUCTIVITY.
A high degree of inherited resiliency allows you to resist illness better, but if you do get sick it’s usually for a shorter duration than the average person with the same illness. If symptoms do arise, it may be easier to ignore them (which isn’t necessarily wise!), or to push yourself so that they do not have much impact in your daily life. It’s important to note that if you have a great deal of resiliency and still take care of yourself by not abusing your body, you will save that resiliency for later in your life. However, if you push hard and use ’n abuse this resiliency early in life you will have less reserve later in life. So, you can be old and healthy or old and unhealthy depending on the choices you make earlier in your life.
People with lowered resiliency have a reduced ability to abuse their body. Springing back to health is slower (ie. recovery is slower) and more support is needed to maintain good health. This also means that these people are less likely to abuse their bodies and often pay more attention to their health and how they take care of themselves overall. So, there is no “good” or “bad” to either of these situations. It is what you do with what you have that counts.
The second influence on physical integrety is how much you have going on at one time. There are iris signs that identify how driven you are to accomplish things. Some people are content with going through life at a reasonable pace while others want to accomplish many times that in a single day. It’s like there is a watchspring wound up inside of them too tightly. Example of this are people with “too many irons in the fire” or “not having enough time in the day” and finding it hard to say no even though they are already too busy. This can create frustration and neuromuscular tension (ie. shoulders, jaw, neck, etc. get tight), irritability and a feeling of pressure inside. Other behaviors include eating on the go and not chewing one’s food thoroughly, and also shallow breathing. It is “life in the fast lane”.
PERSONALITY TYPES
JEWEL: This type has eyes that have a tight weave to the fibers but which also have many dots or pigments of color. These people are thinking, analyzing and intellectual and are referred to as mental types. They take information in visually and use pointed gestures. They are very slow to change and always want more information. They fear criticism, intimacy, the unknown and letting go. If they are stressed they tend to be spacey, forgetful, frustrated, anxious and emotional.
FLOWER: This type has lots of openings in their fibers and are very emotional. Feeling oriented, they experience life through the sensitivities of the heart, with automatic emotional reactions to events. They take information in auditorily and communicate with animated gestures and use a lot of imagery and emotion. These people have a difficult time staying focused and completing things. They fear abandonment, being controlled and suffocating. They can become very controlling, angry, depressed, and blaming if overly stressed. Without balance they never feel connected, never quite feeling complete.
STREAM: This type has tight fibers without the dots or openings of a Flower or a Jewel. These people are very kinesthetic and are the fabric which holds the world together. They are intuitive, grounded, amiable, and very physical. Streams learn best when allowed to “do it”. They are the nurturers and the mediators of society. They fear change, hurting others, and making mistakes as well as being hurt themselves (which is easy as they are so sensitive). They need hugs.
SHAKERS: Eyes that have both dots and openings in them are referred to as Shakers. These people are very innovative and have extremist tendencies that takes them beyond the limits of conventional tendencies, thought and norms. They may often find themselves standing alone in society and attracting ridicule from their peers. Shakers learn visually, auditorally, and kinisthetically, so they are wonderful students. They communicate at all levels as well. They fear being controlled, failure and intimacy. They are driven to achieve, yet can be quite ungrounded, experiencing cycles of great success and failure that exhaust their strength.
FURTHER ADAPTATIONS
INNER-DIRECTED: This is a gold band that surrounds the pupil and indicates that the person holds heir feeling s “close to the vest”. These are very sensitive people who tend to be reserved, observant, and somewhat secretive, hiding their true feelings behind a facade. These people are good counselors, teachers, and make good friends. They have 10 things going through their mind at once and if you are real close to them they might share one of those with you. They process by having mental conversations with themselves and truly believe that these conversations actually took place with another person when it did not.OUTER-DIRECTED: This sign is a lack of the gold band as described above and a clear belt of expression. These people are outgoing, expressive and honest. They generally externalize their thoughts, words, and emotions which creates movement in their environment. They are achievement oriented, active and productive, but often do not take the time to plan and thus find themselves overextended. These are socially active people who make good managers, and are good at public relations, sales, and marketing. The live in the now and want instant gratification.
LEFT-BRAIN DEVELOPMENT: This is the part of the brain that is responsible for verbal communication, voluntary muscular function, precision, logic and choice. It represents the conscious personality and the present. These people are very logical, practical and self-oriented. They are usually materially oriented and tend to be more possessive. Left-brain development tends to make one act like a Jewel.
RIGHT-BRAIN DEVELOPMENT: This is the part of the brain that is responsible for creativity, emotions and abstraction. Right-brain dominant people are usually very agreeable, social and easy-going, with a tendency toward being disorganized and cluttered. They tend to deny materialism (so hate to balance their checkbook) and avoid domestic chores. These are the great visionaries behind successful entrepreneurial ventures, if they are smart enough to let someone else mange what they invent or create. Right-brain development tends to make one act like a Flower type.
If you take a Flower pattern, add outer-direction and right-brain orientation you would have a person who has amplified their basic personality many times over and who is out of balance. The same could be true of a Jewel that is inner-directed and left-brain dominant. They would be extremely closed down emotionally and we would find it almost impossible to have a relationship with that person.
Now you’ve got a pretty good idea just how much of you your eyes really reveal to a trained person. With all of this information at your disposal there’s no reason you can’t be happy, healthy and wise!
